With recent headlines of Pope Francis making off the cuff statements in seemingly accepting the use of contraception and the Vatican in dialog with Freemasons can only mean disaster for the faithful. You know how the saying goes, ‘as go the Church, so does the world’ and the effects of these tremendous statements and disregard for Catholic teaching can be felt in every parish worldwide. What’s the problem with the Pope’s remarks about contraception and the Vatican’s outreach to Freemasons you ask? Let’s break it down, shall we?
Let us begin right off the bat, so to speak, to clear the air regarding contraception; IT IS NOT EXCUSABLE! It is mortal sin to use contraception, period! We know this from Pope Paul VI’s Humanae Vitae, we also know this from Magisterial pronouncements against its use as it is an affront to the Sacrament of Matrimony. However, in a recent interview, we have Pope Francis not so much condemning it but actually giving place for contraception. OnePeterFive reported on the interview,
Paloma García Ovejero, Cadena COPE (Spain): Holy Father, for several weeks there’s been a lot of concern in many Latin American countries but also in Europe regarding the Zika virus. The greatest risk would be for pregnant women. There is anguish. Some authorities have proposed abortion, or else to avoiding pregnancy. As regards avoiding pregnancy, on this issue, can the Church take into consideration the concept of “the lesser of two evils?”
Pope Francis: Abortion is not the lesser of two evils. It is a crime. It is to throw someone out in order to save another. That’s what the Mafia does. It is a crime, an absolute evil. On the ‘lesser evil,’ avoiding pregnancy, we are speaking in terms of the conflict between the fifth and sixth commandment. Paul VI, a great man, in a difficult situation in Africa, permitted nuns to use contraceptives in cases of rape.
Don’t confuse the evil of avoiding pregnancy by itself, with abortion. Abortion is not a theological problem, it is a human problem, it is a medical problem. You kill one person to save another, in the best case scenario. Or to live comfortably, no? It’s against the Hippocratic oaths doctors must take. It is an evil in and of itself, but it is not a religious evil in the beginning, no, it’s a human evil. Then obviously, as with every human evil, each killing is condemned.
On the other hand, avoiding pregnancy is not an absolute evil. In certain cases, as in this one, such as the one I mentioned of Blessed Paul VI, it was clear. I would also urge doctors to do their utmost to find vaccines against these two mosquitoes that carry this disease. This needs to be worked on.
It is off the cuff statements like these that of course do not sound like a Pope speaking but rather a liberal life coach giving carnal guidance for carnal people. And as shocking as the statement about Paul VI’s ‘permission to allow nuns to use contraceptives in cases of rape’ there is no proof that such event ever took place. But even so, even RAPE is not a reason to use contraception according to the Church. The whole point is to live a life that reflects virtue and conforming oneself to the Church’s teachings as passed down from Christ. We see here that this statement is to insinuate that you can use contraception in cases of rape and of course the statement that gave implicit permission for contraception to stop the spread of this disease,
“avoiding pregnancy is not an absolute evil. In certain cases, as in this one, such as the one I mentioned of Blessed Paul VI, it was clear. I would also urge doctors to do their utmost to find vaccines against these two mosquitoes that carry this disease. This needs to be worked on.”
We even have CNN reporting that Pope Francis is giving permission to use contraception to help stop the spread of these diseases which by and large has little to do with rape but rather consensual sex. Not to mention this disease is dangerous for the pregnant woman and small children. This of course will only fuel modernist theologians that will not doubt rally behind this liberal approach to stopping this disease. So basically, instead of abstinence and the practice of virtues for health and holiness, poison your bodies and corrupt the life giving power God granted you!
And if that isn’t bad enough, the Vatican and Freemasons are apparently rubbing elbows. Yes that is right, the same secret society that has been condemned by more than 6 popes due to its outright pernicious, pagan, and hostility against the Catholic Church. We have can get a better understanding of the condemnation of Freemasonry by looking at the famous Papal Encyclical, in 1884 Humanum Genus where Pope Leo XIII actually calls Freemasonry “a crisis”. Pope Leo XIII wrote,
…when so fierce and so pressing an onslaught is made upon the Christian name, it is Our office to point out the danger, to mark who are the adversaries, and to the best of Our power to make head against their plans and devices, that those may not perish whose salvation is committed to Us, and that the kingdom of Jesus Christ entrusted to Our charge may not stand and remain whole, but may be enlarged by an ever-increasing growth throughout the world.
The Roman Pontiffs Our predecessors, in their incessant watchfulness over the safety of the Christian people, were prompt in detecting the presence and the purpose of this capital enemy immediately it sprang into the light instead of hiding as a dark conspiracy; and, moreover, they took occasion with true foresight to give, as it were on their guard, and not allow themselves to be caught by the devices and snares laid out to deceive them.
The first warning of the danger was given by Clement XII in the year 1738, and his constitution was confirmed and renewed by Benedict XIV. Pius VII followed the same path; and Leo XII, by his apostolic constitution, Quo Graviora, put together the acts and decrees of former Pontiffs on this subject, and ratified and confirmed them forever. In the same sense spoke Pius VIII, Gregory XVI, and, many times over, Pius IX.
For as soon as the constitution and the spirit of the masonic sect were clearly discovered by manifest signs of its actions, by the investigation of its causes, by publication of its laws, and of its rites and commentaries, with the addition often of the personal testimony of those who were in the secret, this apostolic see denounced the sect of the Freemasons, and publicly declared its constitution, as contrary to law and right, to be pernicious no less to Christendom than to the State; and it forbade any one to enter the society, under the penalties which the Church is wont to inflict upon exceptionally guilty persons.
Need a more recent example of Freemasonry being denounced as absolute evil? Try, then Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith
It has been asked whether there has been any change in the Church’s decision in regard to Masonic associations since the new Code of Canon Law does not mention them expressly, unlike the previous code.
This sacred congregation is in a position to reply that this circumstance is due to an editorial criterion which was followed also in the case of other associations likewise unmentioned inasmuch as they are contained in wider categories.
Therefore, the Church’s negative judgment in regard to Masonic associations remains unchanged since their principles have always been considered irreconcilable
with the doctrine of the Church and, therefore, membership in them remains forbidden. The faithful, who enroll in Masonic associations are in a state of grave
sin and may not receive Holy Communion.
It is not within the competence of local ecclesiastical authorities to give a judgment on the nature of Masonic associations which would imply a derogation from what
has been decided above, and this in line with the declaration of this sacred congregation issued Feb. 17,1981.
Are the dots connecting? I hope so, because a disturbing letter was sent from Gianfranco Cardinal Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture to “Brother Masons”, Feb. 14, 2016:
“…These various declarations on the incompatibility of the two memberships in the Church or in Freemasonry, do not impede, however, dialogue, as is explicitly stated in the German Bishops’ document that had already listed the specific areas of discussion, such as the communitarian dimension, works of charity, the fight against materialism, human dignity and knowledge of each other.“Further, we need to rise above that stance from certain Catholic integralist spheres, which – in order to hit out at some exponents even in the Church’s hierarchy who displease them – have recourse to accusing them apodictically of being members of Freemasonry. In conclusion, as the German Bishops wrote, we need to go beyond reciprocal “hostility, insults and prejudices” since “in comparison to past centuries the tone and way of manifesting [our]differences has improved and changed” even if they [the differences]still remain in a clearly defined way.”
675 Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.574 The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth575 will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.576
676The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism,577 especially the “intrinsically perverse” political form of a secular messianism.578
677The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection.579 The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven.580 God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgment after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world.581
